'ESCAPE' TO FEATURE ICONIC MIAMI BAR
Miami's oldest bar has a new home -- on a cruise ship.
Norwegian announced this week Tobacco Road, closing after 102 years in business, will be featured on Norwegian Escape, their newest and largest ship.
Here's more from Norwegian:
"The acclaimed establishment, which was issued Miami’s very first liquor license, is closing its original location this week after 102 years in business. In an effort to preserve the tradition of this iconic Miami landmark, Tobacco Road and Norwegian Cruise Line partnered to bring the Tobacco Road experience onboard Norwegian Escape, which will begin sailing from Miami in November 2015.
"Located within 678 Ocean Place, the new location of the celebrated tavern will incorporate elements of the original Tobacco Road, including the iconic neon sign, memorabilia and photographs that will showcase the history of Miami through the lens of events and happenings at the bar over the past century.
"In addition to favorite beers and spirits, Tobacco Road Bar onboard Norwegian Escape will also feature a selection of cocktails created by Tobacco Road’s resident mixologist, Leo Holtzman. The delicious libations from Holtzman’s Cocktail Collection will include favorites like the Chili Mule, featuring ginger puree, Cointreau and vodka topped with a sliced serrano pepper; and the Gateway, a rum-based drink that incorporates yuzu juice, elderflower syrup and Prosecco.
"Norwegian Escape will begin weekly seven-day cruises from her year-round home port of Miami to the Eastern Caribbean on Nov. 14, 2015."

READY, SET, CRUISE! MAKE YOUR PLANS NOW

Vacations can be fun, entertaining and relaxing. They can also be an awful hassle if you are going to be visiting more than one destination.
Those opting for a one stop trip more often than not end up in a resort that provides virtually all they need from meals to entertainment. If they are lucky enough to be in an area were there are other things to see and do, all the better.
The truth of the matter, though, is that those who go to most any resort end up sitting around all day, swimming a bit and perhaps taking in the entertainment in the evening.
There are alternatives.
Cruising is, in fact, a resort that refuses to stay in one spot. And you have a choice that is pretty wide-ranging. There are the floating cities that look as though a piece of California or Florida has broken off and floated out to sea. And then there are smaller and more intimate ships where you can actually get to know the captain, the crew and, most important, other passengers.

CUNARD HISTORY: HAIL TO HIBERNIA!
This article, written by Michael Gallagher, public relations executive and historian
for Cunard Line, is part of an ongoing series of key moments in Cunard Line's history
By Michael Gallagher
Cunard Historian
On 29 December 1847, Cunard Line made its first call to New York when Hibernia arrived. The Herald newspaper's front page screamed “Hail to the Hibernia” and detailed how "the entire populace swarmed to its waterfront to cheer the coming of the first Cunarder to the harbour of New York.”
Citing the wonders Cunard had done to Boston in terms of commerce and population growth, The Herald claimed Cunard's first ship, Britannia, had "initiated a new era in human intercourse."
The newspaper went on: "The arrival of the Hibernia...is only the beginning of the revolution that is going on in ocean steam navigation, which will ultimately result in drawing all steamers to this port. Our merchants ought to welcome Captain Ryrie to New York. Why not give him a public dinner, Friday next?"
