We've talked a lot in this space about social media and cruise lines. One name that crops up again and again is Norwegian. Now comes word they are the winners in the “South Florida #SocialMadness Competition” in the large
company category, presented by the Business Journals and Capital One Spark
Business. As such, they will be advancing to the national level competition.
Norwegian says in their release: "The
#SocialMadness competition highlights companies of all
sizes with the best social media strategies in a tournament style challenge. Throughout
all three rounds of the South Florida competition, Norwegian dominated the
large company category, ending with a winning score of 23,564 versus the
runner-up’s score of 12,692.
"The first round of the National #SocialMadness
competition launches today, July 24, 2012. Norwegian is competing head-to-head
against 64 regional winners representing companies throughout the United
States. The bracketed competition continues for seven weeks, gradually
narrowing down the pool of competitors and in the end, the overall winner will
be awarded $10,000 to donate to the charity of their choice.
"If Norwegian is
named the national winner on Sept. 7, 2012, the company will donate the
$10,000 prize to Camillus House, which
provides humanitarian services to persons who are poor and homeless in
Miami-Dade County. Norwegian has already pledged $5 million to support the
ongoing construction of the new three-acre Camillus House Campus in Miami’s
Health District. In recognition of this gift, the new campus was named
the Norwegian Cruise Line Campus of Camillus House. For more information on
Camillus House, visit www.camillus.org or www.facebook.com/camillus.house."
Norwegian would like all fans and guests to vote for Norwegian Cruise Line in the
#SocialMadness competition daily to ensure that Norwegian advances through each round of the #SocialMadness
competition."
