Big ships aren't born full grown. They get there one piece at a time. The first piece of steel that eventually will become Norwegian Getaway was officially cut on May 4 at MEYER WERFT shipyards in Germany. Getaway will call Miami its year-round home, and will make its debut in the spring of 2014. At 144,000 metric tons, it will accommodate 4,000 passengers.
